ATELIER TAMMAM
The cottons I create with are diverse, from delicate and silky power loomed sateen, to heavy and strong hand loomed luxury denim.
I love bringing traditional techniques and modern processes together to create new ideas and materials, working with natural dyes, block, digital or screen printing, embroidery, beading, embellishments and different ways of spinning and weaving. My background includes being an alumnus of Central St Martins, consulting for a variety of start up fashion labels in sourcing and production and freelancing for a diverse range of designers including couturier Catherine Walker, as well as other high end labels and bespoke menswear tailors. As a traditional couturier working with hand craftsmanship and creating bespoke one of a kind gowns I attract a high end clientele, including celebrities for red carpet events and as private clients.” Lucy Tammam |
"I follow the New Luxury Code because in today's
world businesses have an obligation to offer choice to consumers who desire sustainable, ethical luxury products" “I have spent years sourcing and developing cruelty free and vegan fabrics for my own high end and couture collections (including bridal wear), cotton has been an integral fibre in this process. I started sourcing sustainable / eco fabrics in India and Nepal in 2005. I have worked with organic and fair trade certified cottons since and collaborate with a range of suppliers producing on both power looms and hand looms. I have also worked extensively with other natural fibres including banana, nettle, hemp and peace silk and am currently developing blends of these fibres with cotton and cupro to create luxury fabrics for garments. |
